Website call

Also called: Web call · Browser call · Click-to-call

A website call is a voice call that a visitor starts from a button on a website and holds in the browser, with no phone number on their side.

Website calls usually run on WebRTC, the browser standard for audio and video, so the visitor needs only a microphone and permission to use it. The call is free for the visitor, and the business does not need a phone number.

Because anyone on the page can press the button, website calls need limits: calling hours, a cap on calls per visitor and sometimes calls only for signed-in customers. They usually start from the website chat widget.

How Risti does it

In Risti, website calls are part of website chat. On the account page, open Calls and turn on Take calls on the website; it needs Take calls in Risti on first. Visitors then get a Call button and talk in the browser, free, with no phone number.

You choose calling hours (Same as working hours or Always), a ring time of 15–90 seconds, who can call (Everyone or Only signed-in customers), the longest call (up to 60 minutes) and blocks. Each visitor can make 3 calls an hour. If nobody answers, they write in the chat instead, or leave MaryAI a number when she is on. MaryAI can answer these calls, as an AI receptionist; this is off by default.
